Precious Stones Optics
Modeling the Tolkowsky round brilliant cut using the Zemax program, where some of the facets are imparted with grating patches to increase the “fire”, namely to enhance the colors of the stone. The Zemax model also uses the Gsolver program (a commercially available Rigorous EM analysis program) to derive the spectral reflectivity of the grating patches. Some of the diamond views are shown above for different gratings and viewing angles.
